What are common themes to The Beach by Alex Garland and Lord of the Flies by William Golding?

I am writing a comparative essay of the two novels, and I am focusing on similar themes. I need to have 3 points of comparison and so far I only have thought of Power and Civilization vs. Savagery as two common themes. Can anybody think of another theme common to both novels? Thanks in advance!
